It was a year when men and women became absorbed by news that wasn’t true; that all pretense of accuracy and accountability was abandoned; and from Oregon wildlife refuges to D.C. pizzerias, people decided that they themselves would decide what was right and what was wrong, all loosely based on what some Russian dropout was posting to Instagram.
