Well, gonna see "Paranormal Activity 3" tonight. Figure I've already seen the other two, and this Halloween is severely lacking in horror films on the big screen.
-
@scribuscampbell Every halloween we listen to Orson Welles' War of the Worlds broadcast from 1938
-
@scribuscampbell I only saw the first one. Was the second one any good?
-
@colfax That is brilliant. :D
-
@tenmihara It was good, but it introduced some serious continuity issues between itself and the first one. That, or I completely forgot large pieces of PA 1.
-
@scribuscampbell I found it on CD a while ago, maybe I should rip it and upload the MP3.
-
@colfax It would be a service to history itself.
-
@scribuscampbell I'll do it tomorrow, don't feel like digging through CDs right now.
-
@scribuscampbell Hope you enjoy the movie. I'm not into thrillers, myself. :c
-
@colfax Thoroughly understood. I keep telling myself to get rid of my CDs, but I can't shake that "What if something happens to all of my various backups?" thought.
-
@pinhooves Thank you! :) And there's no need for that frown, nothing is for everyone.
-
@scribuscampbell Well, converting them all to MP3 wouldn't do me any good, I lack an MP3 player of any type aside from my comp.
-
@scribuscampbell I figured it would be something like that. The 'it was real' vibe the first one tried to go for was somewhat spoiled by the act of making a sequel
-
@colfax Ah, yeah... That would limit things a bit, indeed.
-
@tenmihara Well, PA 2 actually happens before PA 1, which is where the continuity derps-out. They never mentioned any of the events of 2 during 1, despite being about a month apart.
-
@scribuscampbell Ah, I see. Lemme know how the third one is
-
@tenmihara Shall do! About 10 minutes before (the previews before) it starts.
-
@scribuscampbell lol

@tenmihara "Paranormal Activity 3" - I think I liked this one best of the series so far. A great job with atmosphere and mood, and a number of creative scares (especially considering the fact that the entity in question can only do, like, three basic tricks). As for the scares, they're mostly of the AUGH!-YOU-JUMP-NOW variety, but they do make you jump - their timing is impeccable. As for the story, it made me kind of wish I'd watched the first two again so I'd be back up to speed; but, I saw it on a whim, so no chance there. I would say it integrated into the overall story of the franchise better than PA 2 did. I'd say they've got one more possible film in the franchise (which would take place after PA 1, since 2 & 3 were prequels) - but I can't for the life of me think of how they would continue the "characters filming themselves" theme. Overall, I'll call it a B-minus. !movies
