  1. Ok, guys. What's a good Android-based phone that Sprint carries? I'm getting one today (like, in an hour) and I want a good one.

      1. @ceruleanspark ?

        1. @redenchilada The phones you can get, and their prices, are determined by your plan. What plan are you on?

          1. @ceruleanspark Oh. My mother plans to upgrade her unlimited plan to an unlimited family plan when we go get it.

            1. @redenchilada The $189 a month one?

Friday, 24-Feb-12 12:44:35 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
              1. @ceruleanspark Er, not that one. $150/mo for three lines, if what my mother says is true. The other phones are iPhones, if that makes any difference.

              2. @ceruleanspark I've got a $200 spending budget for the phone itself, also.

                1. @redenchilada You can get an iPhone 4S on on that plan with that. If not that, then Sprint Carries the Samsung Galaxy S2 for $199 on that plan. In my opinion, it's one of, if not the, best android handset on the market right now. Look up some reviews and see what you think

                  1. @ceruleanspark I think I've had others suggest the Galaxy too, actually. I'll make sure to keep it in mind!

                    1. @redenchilada Yeah, Galaxy is boss. ;p

                2. @redenchilada You could also get the Nexus S, which is cheaper and not as good, but one of the official "google" android handsets, so is designed to be user modifiable. (Like the Nexus 1). It'll let you install your own custom ROMS and the like without having to violently void the warranty or anything

Friday, 24-Feb-12 12:52:16 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                  1. @ceruleanspark Oh, custom ROMs are a big plus for me.

Friday, 24-Feb-12 12:53:11 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
                    1. @redenchilada The Nexus S is what google considers a "Developer" handset, so it ships with completely vanilla android with no preinstalled overly like touchwiz or HTC Sense.

                      1. @ceruleanspark That sounds like my kind of phone. Great!

                        1. @redenchilada Plus, android development is mostly Java. You should try writing an app.

Friday, 24-Feb-12 13:05:01 UTC from web
                          1. @ceruleanspark That's actually my primary reason for going with Android. :p

Friday, 24-Feb-12 13:05:51 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
                            1. @redenchilada Get the SDK. Write an app that that uses QR codes to superimpose ponies on a real environment. Print Scootaloo QR codes and stick them everywhere

                            2. @redenchilada Something like what I'm doing with my PC webcam and iPad in this picture: http://i.imgur.com/ErLeH.png

                                1. @purplephish20 AR Twilight. You can do it with a PC and a marker. http://ponyar.net/#ins

Friday, 24-Feb-12 13:13:39 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                              2. @ceruleanspark thats it... I'm superimposing Braeburn everywhere!

Friday, 24-Feb-12 13:12:32 UTC from web
                                1. @purplephish20 Instead of printing the marker, just put it fullscreen on your iPod. If it's fully visible, you should get a minipony standing on the screen

Friday, 24-Feb-12 13:14:59 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                  1. @ceruleanspark ok, I'm favouriting these post and I'll come back to them later, I'm just getting to be busy in a minute... This looks really cool!

                    2. @redenchilada If for whaver reason you can't get either of those, the various HTC Evo variants are the only other android handsets they carry worth your time. (They're all hackable, being HTC's, so at worst, you should be able to update them that way)

Friday, 24-Feb-12 12:56:38 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                    3. @redenchilada And if you wanna be a hipster, they carry the HTC Arrive, which is a Windows Phone 7 device. I use a WP7 phone and love it, plus you get to look down on android users.

                        1. @redenchilada I've heard nothing but great things about the windows phones... And the one time I tried one out I loved it.... But then again I spent most of the time playing "fruit ninja"

                        2. @redenchilada Don't discount Windows Phone. It's smooth, well supported by MS, and solid as a rock in terms of software quality
