@firestormdangerdash I had a client who believed that in heaven he'd get to live with Winnie the Pooh. That was because he loved the show and his family thought it was a nice way to get the concept across to him. He was an adorable kid.

@pony First, I like that kids thinking. I will believe Heaven is somehow Equestria. Or I can make it Equestria... Anyway, client? What is your line of work?

@firestormdangerdash I work with disabled ponies. It doesn't pay much but it's rewarding. The job I was talking about was one where I gave assistance to severely mentally disabled individuals living in group homes. They're often put there by the state or their families as a last resort before or after being committed to a hospital due to violent tendencies, etc.

@pony If I had a hat I would tip it. Very noble line of work Pony, very noble indeed.

@firestormdangerdash Thanks! The real need is for direct care providers, but due to the low pay most of us don't stick with it for very long.. I've moved on to working with teens with Asperger's and learning disabilities because it pays slightly more for example, but I continue to visit some of my old clients as a volunteer.

@pony Most get in to that line of work looking to change the world... but end up miserable and disappointed, when the end up looking after the "challenging ones" day in and day out, while dodging furniture of varying sizes...

@nlghtmaremoon Yes. Burn-out is another big obstacle. Luckily my education has prepared me and made me resistant to that, but I can't say I miss the flying furniture. If I could support a family on it, i'd do that work full time, but there's no guarantee that after so long I might just burn out too.

@pony My older brother has cerebral-palsy, and my mother was the manager of a group home for some time, when I was younger... So I grew up around some "Interesting people" Head Banger Bill was my personal Favorite...He walked around on his knees, and well banged his head a lot, so he wore a helmet. I loved following him around on my knees, I don't know why, but I thought it was the coolest thing ever...(I was 3) never seen the behavior side of things, until my first job working in school business... First chair is always worst chair... and i was just the I.T. guy...

@nlghtmaremoon Kudos to her! being a manager of a group home is something I've decided to avoid until I've graduated. Also, my last manager's supervisor was a little nuts, so that scared me away. Nothing like a boss that screams and cusses at you on top of the clients to make work a nightmare. First chair? You work as an I.T. guy at a school? Sorry, I'm confused. http://ur1.ca/8mrrs

@pony Asperger's syndrome. I have that. For some reason everypony thought the name was funny but me when I was told I had it. But back on topic, you make everypony proud by doing what you do. Keep it up!

@firestormdangerdash I love the boys I work with.. I think of Asperger's as more of a trait than a disability. It all depends on whether a pony is well adjusted. Right now my schedule only allows me to work as the night watch (at a boarding school for those teens). It means that I usually only see the kids when they wake up, but it gives me plenty of time at night for whatever I like.. ponies or otherwise. Best job I've ever had.

@pony right also, it's a boarding school for colts.. so all the students are male.

@firestormdangerdash I'd go on, but I don't know anything else to say. I'm always happy to answer questions!
