@omni I'm not running going for OpenShot via MacPorts, either. All the MacPorts apps run through X11 under OSX, which is two levels of GUI backend, two and a half of GUI frontend, and far too many levels of abstraction for video editing on a three year old MacBook Pro. >_<

@cavatina "Died?" Mac tech support is first rate, even after AppleCare expires. The hardware is reasonably priced for Apple, diagnosis is fast and easy, work is done promptly, and the QC is first rate. What do you mean by "died"? Did you hammer a timber tie through it? ʘ⌢◉

@psykozohedron It was £500 to get the logic board replaced, since the machine was outdated when it happened in July 2011, i really didnt see the point, would take me too long to get the funds for that. I know how fantastic apple support is, i loved it, just a shame i didnt have applecare when this happened, all other problems i had were fixed in a day, and in one case, 2 hours when the screen had a dead pixel. I will be getting a Macbook Pro alongside my Gaming Rig when i get it, i just dont wanna go mac for the main build yet cause i need to get the biggest bang for my buck i can at this stage.

@cavatina I know about the AppleCare thing. Mine worked flawlessly for nearly 3 years to the day, then one of the OC'd processor fans died. $80 to replace, including labor, and I'd been running it 24/7 at 3x default speed for 3 years. ^_^

@psykozohedron There's a bit of a difference between a fan and an entire motherboard.

@ceruleanspark Yes, and a lot of difference between a fan and the 17" display I cracked by kicking the thing off a TV tray. ^_^

@psykozohedron The glass is about £150 here. I know this from watching a friend of mine not zip his laptop bag all the way up before standing up. Crash.

@ceruleanspark I don't want the glass. :)

@ceruleanspark I didn't say the glass was cracked. I said the display. It looks like gangrene and gets worse all the time. The death creeps across the surface as months go by. XD
