      1. @renovatedkitchen I got it at a place called active surplus. It's in downtown Toronto, and is the place to go if you need stuff like wire, microchips, resistors, transistors, floppy drives, you name it. It's amazing. Look it up on google maps.

          1. @renovatedkitchen I had never been there before. I walked in and was amazed at all the raw STUFF they have there. I walked out with two Ethernet cables (to cut up and use for floppy drives), 3 of said floppy drives, 3 floppy drive power converters, and a "Nintendo" screwdriver. I like floppies.

            1. @techdisk42 Lol. I can tell! If you ever need ethernet cabling, plugs or anything of the sort, shoot me a PM. My dad works at Bell, and I got aspergers. So chances are if you need something, Either me or my dad can get it free.

              1. @renovatedkitchen owhh, bell. I like bell. I (and by that I mean my parents) am on Fibe, and I love it. Anyway, I'll keep that in mind, considering my antics with wiring stuff using gutted Ethernet cabling, I can see myself needing more at some point... Kinda unrelated, but do you know if you can attach a second modem to Fibe powered Internet? My house is too old to have Ethernet through the walls, so I kinda want a Ethernet only modem in my basement so I can get full speed instead of wifi.

                1. @techdisk42 Oh, like plug in a wifi router into the modem? Eyeup! Thats what we do too. So that we get Wireless-N. Picked up a refurbed unit from tiger direct for $20. Works like a charm.

                  1. @renovatedkitchen sorta, what we have now is a modem/router on our second floor that provides wifi to the whole house. It has 4 or 5 Ethernet ports on the back of it, but I have no way of accessing them. I want to know if I can get a second Ethernet only router that plugs into my phone jack or tv cable (we have Internet tv through fibe) so I can get some Ethernet ports in my basement.

                    1. @techdisk42 Ah, that I dont believe you can do, because its one modem per phone line. What you can do if you really wish, is to either get another router or a laptop, and have it bridge with the one upstairs then send it via ethernet.

                      1. @renovatedkitchen aww poo. Is it possible to move the original router/modem to the basement, then? Or is it set up by bell specially for that spot? I know they needed to run some wire when they upgraded us to Fibe, such as a new phone jack and a wire for our TVs... There should be a way of getting full speed somehow... I would think if it's Internet TV we would be able to get Internet through the cable...

                        1. @techdisk42 It is possible. I don't have TV, so I couldn't say, but you can move it around no problem, as long as it plugs into a phone/cable jack that you have at the location you want to move it to.

                          1. @renovatedkitchen ok, that helps. I know for sure there's a phone jack where I want the modem. (the fax machine is there) I'm gonna have to see about the tv though. I'm gonna be building a

                            1. @techdisk42 stupid iPod, anyway, I'm gonna be building a desktop computer soon and I wanna save on buying a wireless card for it and use a direct ethernet connection. It would be faster too.
