  1. @nerthos happen to know anything ( usefull ) about APU's ? I am sort of a gamer and tweaker, but I have not really bothered to read up on those things. I reckon they are not top of the line for someone with my high standards/requirements, are they ?

    1. @critialcloudkicker No, I haven't looked too much into it. My rig is good enough for the time being and I'm saving up for a car so buying one is not in my plans for the near future. I do know that if you have the money for one of the high-performance AMD ones, you'll be able to run pretty much any modern game. The PS4 and Xboned are based on AMD's third-gen low power APUs.

      1. @nerthos Ack. You are right though. There is no need to go buy a new PC when the old one is doing perfectly well. Alas, as I said. Financial situation ... Pretty much I have too much bank-balance and the govnerment will put me on highter tax-rate for having more than nothing on my bank.

        1. @critialcloudkicker Buy gold or something like that. Or bullion coins.

          1. @nerthos They have to go on my tax forms... Ironically I do not when I have it in my wallet. But I do not feel like walking around with 4K in my wallet with big brother watching over me ( possibly )

            1. @critialcloudkicker Just store them away in your house, or rent one of those safes in a bank. Whatever you put inside is private and nobody except you has to know what's inside. Not even the bank keeps a record.

              1. @nerthos Security deposit boxes ? It is illegal to have money in those if we had them, I reckon

                1. @critialcloudkicker It may be illegal to have money, but it's perfectly legal to have bullion and other valuables inside, like jewelry.

                    1. @critialcloudkicker I deleted it because I wrote "coins" instead of "money", and posted it corrected.

      2. @nerthos Which of course means that buying a high end 3rd gen AMD APU when they're released next year will mean your computer will be better than the newest consoles.

        1. @nerthos You know you'll already go over the console specs with a Vishera 8XXX or better ( probably twice the power with the 8 core, 5 GHZ per core, beast ) and anything ATI HD 79XX or better

          1. @critialcloudkicker Yeah, I know. I'm just saying it to illustrate it.

            1. @nerthos I seriously wonder how long it'll take to spawn neigh-perfect emulators for the PS4 and Xbone/XboX180 ... It'll probably take longer for the PS3 emulator though, darn cell-processor... NOBUDEHLIKEZYOO !

              1. @critialcloudkicker I don't think it'll take too long for next gen consoles, since they're pretty muh using PC hardware. That is, if someone actually bothers to make emulators.

                1. @nerthos There is probably a team of rogue renegade nerds working on a GTA5 PC clone working ground-up from the XboX360 one. The same team probably already has a non-official wager saying that they can make a better PC version than Rockstar.... harhar

                  1. @critialcloudkicker I'll wait for them then.

                    1. @nerthos Nah... I'll go pirate the bajinga's out of the official PC release, and by that I mean play the first couple of missions, forget I am playing a pirated version untill I go "oops, I finished it" and then wether it has any replay-value and does not run like complete and utter ARSE like GTA4. I'll buy it... Well probably... http://ur1.ca/g3mz1 talking to Rockstar here

                        1. @nerthos I evaded 4 like a plague untill I could buy the whole GTA collection ( including 4, which I did not owned, Vice City which I had on my PS2, and the older crap of which I can not be bothered to find the CD's ) for the same amassed wealth as what I could find on a stroll int he park on a lucky day ( about zeven fiddy )

                          1. @nerthos I honestly can't complain since I have a 360, but I'm certain there's a reason. With RDR they stated "technical difficulties".

                            1. @mrmattimation They later stated that it was completely possible to make a port but they wouldn't. I just refuse to buy games made by companies that do that kind of mangoes, even more so when they started on PC.

                              1. @nerthos Grand Theft Auto games haven't been developed specifically for PC since GTA III. After that it was PS2 > Xbox & PC a year later. The "Stories" games broke the tradition further with their PSP/PS2 only releases.

                          1. @critialcloudkicker With the insanely low reviews on the PC port of GTA IV, it's no wonder they're trying to focus on one thing at a time.

Tuesday, 26-Nov-13 13:13:01 UTC from web
                            1. @mrmattimation The PC port of GTAIV WAS really, really awful, by all standards. The earlier versions were known to damage hardware when set to max specs due to errors in it causing the GPU/CPU to work in weird ways. The latest patches made it safe to play and fixed a lot of bugs, but their initial job was so bad that they stained their reputation forever.

Tuesday, 26-Nov-13 13:17:40 UTC from web
                              1. @nerthos Right. So why increase the chances of releasing a buggy port by adding a PC port alongside the already heavy workload of trying to get the console versions of GTA V, particularly Online, to work properly?

                                1. @mrmattimation Respect towards the people who've been following GTA since it started. It's a matter of honor. Wether or not they /have/ honor is yet to be seen.
