        @mjd @tuttle I've only setup some traditional Samba 3.x PDCs (some yrs ago) w/o LDAP. Whats the benefit of the LDAP setup?

          @mcscx Haven't the foggiest. More acronyms? I gather SMB/CIFS + LDAP ~= Active Directory. # is a mystery to me.

            Some admins think they need ActiveDirectory even they dont use features like trees, GroupPol. NT4-style Samba 3.x PDC may be sufficient then

              @mdj possibly there're more reasons, eg. Microsoft dropping support for non AD domains.Has been working at least until Win7SP0 incl though
