@vt3c Isn't that how things are supposed to be? Like, providers not messing with their customer's privacy?

The joke is that Comcast is absolute garbage and they should be banned from calling themselves premium.
-
@vt3c Neither does Comcast. They're only obligated to report something if a company comes to them specifically asking for the IP of somebody who's been stealing their cherries.
-
@vt3c My dad would have years and years worth of angry emails if that were the case. What they say and what they actually do are not the same thing, they just use scare tactics.
-
@vt3c What actually happened is that the company you were pirating from directly noticed that you were doing it and notified Comcast.
-
@nerthos Several American ISPs, including Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T signed an agreement last year that they would take measures to prevent internet piracy. So far it... hasn't really panned out for them. They seem to be all talk and no walk.
-
@stardust Yeah, that's... what I just said.
-
@mrmattimation Why not boycott them?
-
@nerthos Not enough people in the country'd agree to one to make a very big difference. For every internet user who's dissatisfied with their service, there's three who really don't care.
