    1. @yodelerty Not much, just finished listening to some music and now I'm just relaxing.

        1. @yodelerty Me too, I don't like to boast but I have a pretty decent collection.

          1. @northernnarwhal Mine is lame and unimpressive mostly.

            1. @yodelerty Most of my stuff is digital but I have some CDs too and a bunch of vinyl records.

              1. @northernnarwhal I have maybe 30 CDs and a bunch of downloads and no vinyl because I don't have a player.

                1. @yodelerty I probably have ~50 vinyls and well over 100 CDs, and a crapload of digital stuff.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 05:35:31 UTC from web
                  1. @northernnarwhal Yeah I'm not really as big of a music person as you. I'm not really big into anything

                    1. @yodelerty Yeah, I am definitely a pretty big music fan.

      1. @nerthos what

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 05:17:35 UTC from web
        1. @yodelerty Overlord. It's basically the Mordor-localized version of Pikmin.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 05:18:07 UTC from web
          1. @nerthos That sounds odd.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 05:21:12 UTC from web
            1. @yodelerty It's a really fun game though. You're an evil overlord and have to lead your colour coded minions to recover all the stuff your dark tower is missing and regain control over the land. You have tought minions, fire minions, poison minions and water minions and an take a certain amount of them with you at a time. Just like Pikmin.

                1. @yodelerty Somewhat. RTS fantasy mayhem simulator kinda.

                    1. @yodelerty Oh well. I always wanted to play it and it was on sale the other day.

                        1. @yodelerty I paid $6.01 for all the PC Overlord games, Dirt 3, Operation Flashlight and maybe something else. Can't remember.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 05:33:39 UTC from web
    5. @ellie I have a few thousand albums digitally, I try to buy stuff but I'd be lying if I said I didn't download.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 05:38:07 UTC from web
    6. @ellie Name a genre and I can name you an artist I like in that genre.

    7. @ellie Yeah, if I like something I'll want a physical copy of it.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 05:39:46 UTC from web
    8. @ellie Easy, MF Doom

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 05:43:18 UTC from web
    9. @ellie Off the top of my head, I'm really into Aesop Rock, Cannibal Ox, Danny Brown, Wu Tang Clan (and basicaly any of the solo stuff from its members), Mos Def, Shabazz Palaces, Deltron 3030, Subtle, Talib Kweli, and a bunch of others. Also massive fan of Death Grips if they count, though they hardly fit one genre.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 05:47:35 UTC from web
    10. @ellie Hahaha yeah, I'm a bit of a hip hop head. As for country, the first and obvious choice is the man in black himself Johhny Cash (At Folsom Prison is just too good). Besides that, I'm into Gram Parsons, Robbie Fulks, Steve Earle, and Hank Williams off the top of my head.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 05:52:32 UTC from web
    11. @ellie Aw, thanks, I try to listen to a bit of everything anyway :3 How about you? Any rappers you like? Or country musicians since we're on the topic?

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 05:57:33 UTC from web
    12. @ellie It's sort of on the periphery of country but I'm really into folk as well. Fairport Convention, Judee Sill, Nick Drake, Leonard Cohen, and I am an absolute fanatic for Neil Young (well, his 60s and 70s stuff anyway).

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 06:04:36 UTC from web
    13. @ellie Absolutely, they're fantastic. Picaresque is brilliant.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 06:06:11 UTC from web
    14. @ellie You've got good taste, Immortal Technique and Kendrick are easily two of rap's finest lyricists. And Nas, oh man don't even get me started on Illmatic.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 06:10:00 UTC from web
    15. @ellie Oh yes definitely, he's one of the first rappers I point to when trying to show people the more intellectual side of rap/hip hop.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 06:13:31 UTC from web
    16. @ellie Kendrick's work is very cinematic, he's excellent at telling stories and painting a picture for his listener. I like Chance as well although I fear he's hit his peak with Acid Rap, and Macklemore is alright but kind of got a bit over hyped by the press. Not even going to touch on those last 2, yuck. In terms of more recent listening, my favourite hip hop album of this year is definitely still Pinata by Freddie Gibbs and Madlib (who's one of the most genius producers ever in my opinion). Very heavy 90s influence on this album but it also has several Madlib signatures like jazzy beats and odd samples. Freddie delivers some of his best bars to date too.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 06:20:06 UTC from web
    17. @ellie Oh yeah, I don't dislike Macklemore, and I think Ryan Lewis is actually a pretty good producer. But he's definitely overrated. I'm really hoping Chance continues down the road he took with Acid Rap and does more very psychedelic sounding rap, because that was fun to listen to. Definitely check out Pinata though, it's fantastic. At the very least, the production will blow you away. Madlib has a very distinct style and flavour with his instrumentals.

    18. @ellie Off the top of my head I'm really into Boards of Canada, The Knife, Justice, Jon Hopkins, Autechre, The Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack, Flying Lotus, and Burial as well as some others.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 06:30:32 UTC from web
    19. @ellie I'm kind of the same, I really try to appreciate music as an art form. And I think it's important to really understand where an album's coming from, and also how it stands in respect to its peers.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 06:37:07 UTC from web
    20. @ellie PS, you wouldn't happen to recognize my profile's background would you?

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 06:38:07 UTC from web
    21. @ellie Yeah, I view movies the same way.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 06:39:10 UTC from web
    22. @ellie Haha, yeah. It's the cover to Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavilion. It just looks really cool, plus it's sort of an optical illusion and moves if you stare at it. Oh, really good album too. Unique take on experimental pop music.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 06:41:03 UTC from web
    23. @ellie It's definitely their most accessible record, their earlier stuff is very noisy and very very weird (I totally love it though).

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 06:42:39 UTC from web
    24. @ellie It does :D

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 06:42:59 UTC from web
    25. @ellie Just wait until you experience Animal Collective though, they're really odd. Easily one of the most eclectic acts of the past decade.

Thursday, 17-Jul-14 06:46:36 UTC from web
    26. @ellie He's such a fantastic producer, he has a very wide influence in his work. His collaboration album with MF Doom, Madvillainy, is easily one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time bar none.
