I'm gonna be bold and say that Separate Ways is probably the best arena rock song of all time

@rarity Not sure if it would be my pick but that's a good pick
-
@northernnarwhal what would be your pick then
-
@rarity If "Carry On Wayward Son" by Kansas counts then maybe that
-
@northernnarwhal that's more of a progressive rock song, right? although it probably can count, since arena rock isn't really a genre, but a mindset
-
@rarity Yeah, that's why I asked if it counted, since Kansas are totally prog but sort of fit into that arena rock scene. I'm not a huge fan of them in general but "Barracuda" by Heart is really fun too, one of my favourite songs to play on drums.
-
@northernnarwhal Barracuda is great. Also if we're throwing in more prog stuff I might have to change my pick to Africa by Toto
-
@rarity If we're throwing in more prog rock I can name a whole handful of Rush songs that I could potentially change my pick to. YYZ in particular is really sweet.
-
@northernnarwhal my mind went to Rush too, but I don't think they could count as arena rock in any sense. If we're just talking straight up mainstream classic prog, though, Rush is definitely miles ahead of any other song I chose
-
@rarity I've seen them live and even for their age at the time they were still so incredibly tight, they play together like a well oiled machine. I don't think I'd count them as arena rock either, but as far as prog rock goes they're awesome. Representing good ol Toronto too.

@northernnarwhal oh god you lucky motherFUDGE
-
@rarity They did YYZ and Neil Peart played that special long drum solo he does at live performances and it was SO GOOD.
-
@northernnarwhal did they Do Red Barchetta? That's probably my fav of that album
-
@rarity Yeah, they did that one. They also did Limelight and closed with Tom Sawyer.
-
@northernnarwhal they literally played the whole first side of that album then
-
@rarity Yeah, they also did La Villa Strangiato from Hemispheres which is one of my favourite songs by them, I love some of the odd paradiddle patterns Peart uses in that one.
-
@northernnarwhal I love thhe word paradiddle
-
@rarity Paradiddly ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
