@awlditzy If done correctly, you should be getting a 20-40% profit margin when you sell, in comparison to the money you spend in buying and repairing the car

@nerthos Probably will spend another $300 with the title transfer and the parts, so yeah, 40%. I'll be waiting to sell it till summertime looms closer and petrol gets more expensive here.

@awlditzy Good luck then. My father has a friend that basically saves money by doing that, buying cars and bikes at a good price, getting them in shape, and selling.

@nerthos I should have been doing that when I had a garage but eh. I at least had side job money then.

@awlditzy When I have enough space, or manage to build a small "workshop" in the front, facing directly at the street for easy in/out traffic, I might start a small bussiness in motorbike electricity manteinance. I've been keeping that in mind after an extensive conversation I had with a guy who owned a motorbike shop a while back.

@nerthos Oh yeah? You going to school for electrical work? I've seen you talk about electrical maintenance before.

@awlditzy Already did so. Certified technician on electromechanics, as I went to a technical secondary school (mid and high school are merged here into secondary) Studying for engineering on electronics. I'm mostly working on home electricity currently as I've found a few clients that call me semi-regularly.

@awlditzy I don't really carry a card or anything as I don't need it for the kind of job I do, nor am signed up for taxes as that'd leech my income like mad right now (only need to be registered to do stuff like approve blueprints for complete installations for new houses or the like, it's cheaper to just pay someone who's registered to sign). But I have the papers around if needed.

@nerthos They give you a card, a shoulder patch for your work uniform and a paper listing the certifications you have under Automotive Service Excellence, but I have yet to meet anyone who carries their card. All I had to do was show my printed test results to my current place of work in order to get the payraises.

@awlditzy Oh, I only have these fancy certifications. Had them checked and re-stamped by the ministy of education a while back too. But yeah, the only practical use all that has is like you said, showing them at human resources to get the category/salary raises for being a qualified worker.
