    • @mushi Longevity schemes like that are one the worst parts of JRPGs. most developers take for granted the crucial importance of having the enemy's strength scale with the player's progression throughout the game.

    • @northernnarwhal usually i'm too stubborn to fall for that and optimize the strategy untill i can beat the boss, but i dont want to do it this time

    • @mushi If I encounter that enough times in a game I sometimes consider dropping the game as a whole. There are some instances where it's forgivable but a lot of the time if my game feels like a chore I'm going to have no motivation to play it.

    • @northernnarwhal yeah, well, that is the first time i'm having this problem. The other hard boss i had to fight was the lost number, but it became real easy when i found a good strategy. Actuallym, i did kill it twice because i died right after wiining the first fight

    • @mushi I've encountered it in a lot of other JRPGs, so I'd almost consider it a recurring trait of the genre but I feel that it would defeat the purpose of a genre in the abstract sense to highlight it with a recurring flaw among many works in said genre. Though it's annoying nonetheless and it's frustrating that so many games in the genre get their pacing so wrong. Generally if the narrative is really strong I'll usually slog through but if the game is standing up on mostly its gameplay alone than it becomes significantly less forgivable.
