I really hate when month and day are switched around in dates. I always expect ddmmyy and not mmddyy.

@thelastgherkin Death to (stupid date formats in) America!!!
MetalTao likes this. -
@adiwan I'm Canadian, so I follow the ddmmyyyy format, but to my knowledge Americans follow the mmddyyyy format because it corresponds with how they say dates (for example, today would be "November 4th, 2015"). I think both formats make sense and ultimately it kind of just comes down to understanding the area's standard, even if I personally prefer ddmmyyyy.
-
@northernnarwhal Can't they say it one way and write it another way? Like it's done with the time. People say like "quarter past 4" and mean 16:15. Well... Whatever.
-
@adiwan They could, they just don't.
-
@adiwan We don't write in military time. And a quarter of 60 is 15.
-
@mrmattimation 16:15 is hh:mm in 24 the hours format. The only format I accept. A day has 24 hours and not two times 12!... I know I'm nitpicky today.
-
@adiwan English is the only language I accept, and if I ever see anybody speak or write in a different language, I will inform them that they are wrong and correct them. I know, I'm being nitpicky today.
-
@mrmattimation That was... Unusual.
-
@metaltao Hey man, either speak English, or get off of this international website!!!!!!
-
@mrmattimation It's all fun and games. I know that's a matter of being accustomed with that way of reading and writing the dates. My minute rant started with reading some release dates and I was constantly confused with the "wrong" order.
-
@adiwan It's just dumb. YYYYMMDD makes sense, but MMDDYY is just silly
-
@skellythos True. But at least ddmmyyyy is ordered (from least to most significant number).
-
@adiwan It's the ideal for day to day use, while the inverse is the best for precision as you can keep adding smaller fractions indefinitely.
