@hikerus @inscius @morph safe resources. But they should not be forced to do so by laws like what that dude proposed (forbid bathtubes).
-
@onetimepad Quitter really needs a reasonable character limit.
-
@skellythos quitter.se tries to be an alternative to twitter. But yes, maybe I should move to another GNUsocial instance that has no limit.
-
@skellythos @mcscx If the URL shortener would work for long texts also (as described in the settings?) wouldn't that be a good compromise?
-
@onetimepad Well, an alternative would be writing long posts on pastebin or any other text hosting service, and fitting only the start of the post in the post itself, along with a link to the full thing. But it's needlessly impractical. Then again I never understood the appeal of twitter or any other service that forces you to talk in short sentences.

@skellythos yes, twitter is not meant for lengthy discussions I guess. I think it is to update your status to the world. "Just got up!" ;)
-
@skellythos or another usecase is for asking short questions, which can be answered with a link or in a short sentence...
-
@onetimepad I can see the bussiness uses for it, since a representative can update on the status of a service, or upcoming sales, as well as answer easy to sort questions from clients, but it's impractical for particulars.
