@widget I've talked to him many times, and he didn't try to pick fights. A bit of arguing, sure, but no senseless fights. He's really honest, that's probably the main difference between him and most people.

@nerthos It was pretty much out of the blue (conventrix had only mentioned his wife being pregnant), though. And I'm pretty sure that what actually took it from "that's inappropriate" to "you're banned" was telling Conventrix that he was overreacting, and to calm down, when it was clear he hadn't taken it well.

@bitshift Well, Conventrix do overreacts over things. As I said, I haven't seen the thing, but he's not the kind of guy who's just mean because he can. He just has a weird sense of humour.

@nerthos Well, obviously. But when Conventrix clearly didn't take it well (and why would he? he's had a problem with alcoholism before, so it's a touchy subject), the sensible thing would be to apologize or drop it, not say "you're being too sensitive, stop being so dramatic" (most of the posts of that nature are even still there).

@bitshift Yeah, it would be the most sensitive thing, but he's not the sensitive kind of guy, and that's something good about him. I wouldn't ban him just for being insensitive. A bad joke is a bad joke.

@nerthos There's a difference between "a bad joke" and "a bad joke and continuing to provoke the person who reacted to it". I guess that and his past ban evasion (hell, the current account was originally to evade his first account's ban, and he had at least one active during the first of his 2 recent bans) meant that the staff didn't see any problem banning him again.
