  1. I can't say that I understand this attitude where if you don't like what the current content coming from a platform is... suddenly that makes the platform useless or whatever. Honestly, I think each platform has its place, and it can produce good content again. I don't think we should give up on them.

I've been casually enjoying all sorts of platforms... I enjoy poetry, novels/stories, music, TV, movies, video games. Although I don't consume comics/manga much... I can see that they have their place and appeal to the audience that is drawn to them.

I think TV as a platform still has relevance, but the content on it could be miles better than it is currently. You kind of have to try to separate the two.

            1. @sim TV will be relevant again when tv producers stop shoveling crap into it. I don't think they will though, so they'll have to keep aiming their content to an aging demographic that still uses the medium just because of habit.

I agree with you. The problem isn't the platform itself, but the content and what producers are pushing into it. I think it will take quite something in order to push them into a big change towards more quality shows.

                1. @sim What they need is to start losing revenue so much that they're forced to change.

Yeah. But I don't know if that will push them into providing quality programs either. You need money for that.

That is a fair point. Although it does take a lot to complete. You can also read some online for free if that is a concern.

One volume of manga in the UK is usually about £12-ish. A paperback book is usually about £6 or £7. So to read a book series, would take you a fair bit, but if its yearly releases as most are, guess its not too bad. A manga series is far far far more. Tis a pain.

Ouch... that does sound like a lot. But yeah, not as bad if it is a yearly thing and you get a lot of content for your money.

Well that's the thing. Book series tend to be. Manga series tend to be released in bulk to the west. So it's a much larger drain on money, a lot quicker.

Yeah... it sounds like something you have to save up for prior to its release.
