This is pretty great, I hope there will be a security audit soon if it hasn't happened already. https://lavabit.com/

@csaurus Oh man, I gotta look into this.
-
@scribus Yeah, I'm most excited about the protocol implementation and the fact that it's free software. I prefer email to pretty much any other internet communication method because of it's federation - something that newer technologies like Signal seem to lack. If a protocol like this caught on it could be huge.

@csaurus I want to make a joke about life imitating art RE: YTCracker's "Introducing Neals" but it just isn't taking form.
-
@scribus I'll have to look that up. Is it a band?
One problem is life might imitate life and they could just make siloed DIME servers like FB and Google did with XMPP.-
@csaurus He's a nerdcore rap artist. He did an album about a hacker who created a version of this crossed with TOR and attracted massive government ire. I mean, it's not like there wasn't ample inspiration before this, just kind of weird to watch it play out according to plan like this.

@scribus Oh yeah. I had a quick look at DarkMail's spec and the document is actually dedicated to the NSA. Thought you'd enjoy that.
-
@csaurus Without whom all of this would've even more possible.
-
@scribus That's essentially the theme. Pretty salty and amazing. I would be surprised if Google and other corps. don't get involved. If the encryption is end-to-end then that limits their exposure which can only be a plus for them. Normally I hate on the valley, but I'm happy to use their money for the public good...
