I wish I had interesting stuff to write about for Robek's site.
Pretty much the only relevant thing I do is poke around in the annals of GNU Social's past.-
@takeFrankerZakenji i thought that too but then i realized the threshold for "interesting" when you expand to ~500 people is very low

@takecherryakenji im serious. just from your posts, i can tell you like cycling and old technology. that's 2 articles, but there's more than one facet to everything, so potentially 4 or 5 articles. one of them's bound to be good. think up a premise, or theory, then summarize, recount, or hypothesize. if i don't want to hear what you have to say, the next guy will.

@why I'm kind of averse to talking about cycling in a public setting since cyclists aren't too popular in the US (putting it lightly). Plus, cyclists tend to be opinionated and get into flamewars a lot online like a number of other specialist groups, which only exasperates me to no end. I post the greater majority of my cycling stuff to a private part of Google+ for that reason.
As far as old tech goes, I'd honestly rather leave that to folks with first-hand experience. I lament how I grew up with the DOS PC rather than one of the number of other home microcomputers, and was born too late to be around for the fierce market competition of the '80s.
I'm not trying to be an Eeyore here. I know I don't have to be an export on the subject, but I do know I have to be comfortable enough with talking about something before publishing something.-

@nerthos @why There must be folks who were around even before then. While I joined Identi\.ca and RDN around 2008-9, I don't really remember much about it beyond it beyond pretty similar to how it was before Eternal February hit.

@takegrapeakenji Yeah, I'm pretty sure there's someone from earlier than that, I just don't know anyone personally. I could look through my very early identica subscriptions and see if anyone is still active somewhere.
