  1. i'm not sure how well its going, but i *am* trying to become a kinder person. i don't expect to be any less direct, because i think that honesty is important, but i *do* want to be less abrasive than i have been.

    2. @xj9 Nothing wrong with Kinder.  http://u.daggsy.com/10A

Well, unless you live in the US, where children are too dumb to not eat the thing inside.

        1. @xj9 It's teaching the "sue everyone all the time" lesson pretty well.

      3. @takekiwiakenji @xj9 There's an import store that I go to in my city that has these when I feel like having the thrill of possibly choking to death.

          1. @xj9 @takecherryakenji You don't, but they're banned/not sold here in the US. Apparently for the risk of a child trying to eat the toy inside and choking.

              1. @takebatcaveakenji @xj9 To be fair, if I were a soccer mom I'd probably be desperately trying to end it too.

I think you can be honest, direct and kind. It does depend on how you approach discussions with others... that can make all the difference. Like rather than insulting people, a kinder approach is to ask questions so that you can understand people better... to use your own experiences so you can relate to them. Don't put people on the defence... invite them into the discussion with you, listen and offer your own input. What was being abrasive to you?

      1. @sim you hit it pretty squarely. i tend to relate to people like this more if i am pursuing friendship, but i'm kind of a papaya otherwise. i'm trying to get to the point where i alway relate to people this way.

        1. @xj9

I think it is good practice to relate to even the people who you aren't pursuing a friendship with, that you wouldn't otherwise benefit from. You would be surprised what you can learn from other people as well, assuming that becomes your focus instead.

    4. @xj9 dunno if it's just me but I haven't noticed anything but either kind or reasonable behavior from you, can't always be kind but then I expect fairness
