@dolus @shpuld @kfist before the LA riots, a black girl was shot in the back by a Korean store owner after a physical altercation resulting from an incident where the owner believed the girl wasn't going to pay for something.
it's tied up in a belief that black businesses were competed out of black communities by Jews and immigrants who didn't care about the black community itself. so there was a lot of hostility already. This was the 1990s so people today conveniently ignore things like stores being under perpetual assault of flash mob robberies and open initimidation theft. Not justifying shooting someone in the back, but its the context for the entire situation that led up to this song-

@dolus @shpuld @kfist btw I met actual "roof Koreans", my family went to california to visit distant relatives right after the LA riots, and my dad wanted to stop at a gun store. The store was owned by Koreans, and during the riots the guarded the entire mall from the roof with high-powered rifles. They never shot a single person but that mall was the only thing not destroyed in the area.
