Got my panniers in the mail. Awesome.

@awl Which ones did you get?
-
@takebananaakenji I went with the Lone Peak Millcreek panniers. 30l displacement, designed for heel clearance in case I load them on the rear and they're designed for front racks as well. Furthermore they look most like the old school Cannondale stuff.

@awl They look pretty nice!
-
@takebananaakenji Oh yeah. They match the aesthetic I've been making with the bike thusfar. They seem really durable and I really like the linkage. Can't wait to test them out.

@awl I've never had panniers with that bungee thing at the bottom. I've always used the Ortlieb ones since I ride in bad weather a lot, and full waterproofing has been my primary concern.
Seems like they'd be less likely to bounce off the lower part of the rack.-
@takekiwiakenji I was debating on full waterproof or not and with this state it isn't a terrible thing to have but dry-packing and possible rain covers should do me well. The linkage and the heel clearance were the biggest concerns I have due to the frame being short and the possibility of my going with longer crank arms down the line.

@awl It's good finding ways to make the shorter wheelbase of the bike you have work.
The first bike I did touring on had 440mm chainstays, and my two main touring mainstays today have 450mm ones, so heel-strike isn't much of an issue for me if I choose to mount bags in the back.-
@takeappleakenji Yeah, this thing is small all around but it's got (some of) the brazes and it's got the good frame material to tour I think. Plus I've always been interested in different ways to mobilise to camp sites, or travel across long distances that aren't by car.

@awl Touring and S240 really are a completely different world from driving to campsites.
-
@takeFrankerZakenji I've only driven once to campsite, a public one at that, and nah. Better to strap yourself to your stuff and set up in a 'primitive' over a day's hike.
