      1. @shpuld yeah that's the thing. Also I don't believe in net neutrality per-se. It doesn't exist. But I think that it is bad for everyone to let ISPs sell access to their customers.

        1. @moonman @shpuld The real question is how anarcho-capitalism can solve this?

          1. @hfaust @moonman @shpuld who will build the data cables?

          2. @hfaust @shpuld get rid of easements, make cable companies negotiate individually for rent with every single property owner whose land their cables cross.

My rental price is one (1) synchronous gigabit fiber optic connection, unmetered,

        2. @moonman yeah as long as the barrier of entry is as high as it is when it comes to service providing, the free market is not going to fix that either

    2. @moonman sometimes I wonder if killing the internet would be a net boon for society

      1. @eris maybe just severely restricted.

      2. @eris @moonman but it's not killing it, it's keeping alive the worst parts

    3. @moonman I find it really batcaveing disingenuous that the companies pushing users to demand it stays for the good of the people are the same ones who are perfectly cool with DRMing the grape out of the web because that suits them just fine.

Twitch/Amazon sure as batcave don't care about the good of anybody but their own wallets.

        1. @roka @moonman They're Amazon's pet now, Twitch does what Amazon wants, and they've done some pretty Fluffle Puffing banana things in the last few years.

      2. @cyberpotato @moonman Pretty sure a number of the companies supporting Net Neutrality also want the good PR.

        1. @takeFluffle Puffakenji @moonman This too, looks good to be fighting for their users, even when all they've really done is stuck a banner at the top of their page.

      3. @cyberpotato Amazon has two great reasons to be for net neutrality:

        * a hundred thousand internet services are built on their AWS architecture, and they know that "build on our peered cloud service not AWS" is right around the corner if they don't stop this

        * lockout of amazon prime video for Comcast Elite kiwivid Service+Player

It's self-interest, but I think the first one is aligned with the health of the Internet in general, if not for the fact that AWS is so huge
