At what point will the brony fandom surpass the Touhou fandom in eaither quality or quantity of content? Has it already?
Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 15:17:03 UTC from web-
@pony When the brony fandom somehow massively increases its size and stops promoting a hostile monoculture.
-
@ceruleanspark Do they have fan made episodes too? Boorus? Dedicated cons? Social sites?
Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 15:26:05 UTC from web-
@pony Touhou has multiple fanmade anime episodes, yes. (Also they're not literally 22 minutes of fan-pandering like DR). The Touhou fandom essentially owns Danbooru already, so they don't need an "exclusive" one. There are literally hundreds of bands whose sole output is arrangements of touhou music (and it's /not/ all generic electronica! I have /more than one/ album of freaking Touhou /waltzes/). I have no idea if touhou has dedicated cons or social sites, because they'd be japan exclusive in the same way that brony conventions and sites are almost exclusively english speaking.

@ceruleanspark TOUHOU YOU SAY?
Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 15:37:28 UTC from web -
@ceruleanspark oooh! Wow! I have noticed Danbooru is heavily populated with Cirno.

@pony You can search the name of pretty much any touhou and return hundreds (If not thousands in the case of cuties like Chen) of /pages/ of results.

@ceruleanspark fascinating. The Japanese have much to teach us. Why on earth is the game so popular?
Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 15:47:05 UTC from web-
@pony Same reasons really. Largely innocent characters resolving conflicts in a friendly and reserved manner in a magical setting very different to our own.
Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 15:49:43 UTC from web-
@ceruleanspark oh I see! It's been around since '95 it seems. Do you think bronies might evolve into something similar given the same ammount of time?
Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 15:51:27 UTC from web-
@pony Only if the fandom levels up with high enough friendship during the day.
Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 15:52:19 UTC from web -
@pony I doubt it, personally.
Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 15:52:41 UTC from web-
@scoot what makes the difference then in your opinion?
Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 15:53:30 UTC from web-
@pony Wider appeal, I think cute anime girls with magic powers appeals to more people than cartoon friendship horses.
Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 15:57:31 UTC from web-
@scoot Cute magical cartoon animals in general do seem more childish (vs. girls), but bronies are well used to fighting that and the fandom grows in spite of it. I suppose it will slow us down regardless.

@pony In japan being an adult who is into touhou is regarded pretty similarly actually.
-
@ceruleanspark http://31.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_magss5WkuC1qc840no1_500.jpg interesting. I understand MLP will have a harder time in Japan than in the US though since animals are more childish than normal anime.

@pony The thing is, Zun has been creating new games with new characters and relationships that entire time. Hasbro will iterate to a new generation that might not be as popular long before that much time has passed.
-
@ceruleanspark Ah. That makes sense. I guess Zun is an individual whereas Hasbro is a soulless bringer of joy to children as long as they make money. With the success of PPG and the history of MLP, I can at least see Hasbro continuing to use the same characters though for a while yet. Tiem will tell.

@pony ewwwwww
Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 15:33:15 UTC from web-
@flamingpandaomg It's just made with plants grown on the Navajo reservation in south Utah
Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 15:35:16 UTC from web-
@pony I say eww because it's tea in any way shape or word.
Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 15:35:59 UTC from web-
@flamingpandaomg It's just a plant infusion and doesn't actually involve tea leaves.
Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 15:37:43 UTC from web-
@pony Why must you prove me wrong ;_;
Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 15:38:35 UTC from web-
@flamingpandaomg if you say you dislike infusions then that's understandable, though I can't sympathize. With sugar or honey they're so nice!
Tuesday, 20-Aug-13 15:40:31 UTC from web-
@pony I have no idea how I feel about infusions.
