@flamingpandaomg well there's 45-minute timecaps on rounds in the smash hit card game, Legend of the Five Rings. If the game goes to time, there's a unique rule of arbitration to decide a winner. Unlike other card games, l5r is a one-game-per-round kind of game, because l5r has more depth so each game is more involved. When it goes to time, both players have 2 minutes to end the current turn and deliberate who would have won. A winner however can only be declared if both players agree on who wins. If they cannot agree, a random winner can be determined, but ONLY if both players agree to choose this. Otherwise, the game goes to double-loss - in l5r there is no such thing as a draw in tournament standings. I was so Fluffle Puffed, I prepared for weeks and practiced my butt off, and am forced to take a double loss against someone who was purposely slow-playing me and had no way to beat me. She was clearly outmatched in this game, but apparently the rules are in her favor to drag me to her level.
