By the way, I just want to thank you all for not throwing a ton of hatred my way over this...Usually, by now I'd be writhing in mental agony from the huge amount of confrontation. I would give you all hugs if I could. @prettypurpleprincesspublicprincesstimeline, Oh god no...I have NOTHING against gay or lesbian lifestyles. Hell, I'm technically bi, myself. As I have already stated multiple times, pony just embodies a nice realm of stuff to me that I don't like to see distorted by the fandom too much, especially in the realm of sexuality and shipping. That is all.

@clayinthecarpet so am I perverting a personal interpretation of perceived pureness by developing the character relationship arc between two characters in a naturally paced and plausible manner? I do not understand what I am offensively distorting as I painstakingly rewrite my drafts to remain within the confines of the show's principles

@clayinthecarpet I haven't been trying to change your mind. I've been trying to demonstrate a particular lack of integrity in explication. When you say "people do X to the show, and X is perverse" and I do X, you are saying what I do is perverse. I will find it offensive that you think I shouldn't be doing what I am doing, because it offends you. You also do not know what I write, other than your opinion on what other people have done or have said in general about other work. So I argue that when you say "shipfics do X to the show and X is perverse and a distortion of the show," you demonstrate that you don't even know what X is. You take your idea of what the show means, which is not /necessarily/ the correct way to view the show since it's opinion, then you display a clearly bitter stance on fics which you feel pervert your opinion of the show. I would not believe you if you told me right now that you don't think me writing shipfics informs your opinion of me.

@prettypurpleprincesspublicprincesstimeline I never said you shouldn't be doing what you're doing...I just said that I disagree with what you're doing with that particular shipfic. I certainly am within my right to feel that way based on my feelings about the show's canon. And yes, I believe it is perverse to a degree, in the accepted definition that you, and I quote, "alter (something) from its original course, meaning, or state to a distortion or corruption of what was first intended." I don't believe you should find that particularly personally offensive at all. It is, after all, what anyone intends to do with a shipfic of MLP. Also? You're taking this WAY, WAY WAY too personally. I'm not judging you as a person based on you writing some fanfiction. I would hug you as willingly as I'd hug anyone else in this room just for being a cool, involved fan of the show. Again, you assume a lot about me as a person...which you shouldn't do as it's a bit insulting.
