  2. @rnbwdashiswin Not to be all wise sage-ish, but it passes. I never had ponies in school, but there were other reasons for great turmoil between me and people I thought were friends. In the end, be who you are. Doesn't always have a happy ending at first, but it does get better. I can sympathize.

  3. @colfax Also, more tech note: the ponies get everywhere! I have two screens, covered in ponies. This may finally be a cure for #

  5. @colfax I just tried out this Desktop Pony business... CUTE. Tech note: each pony is it's own application/process! Now that's crash resilience!

  6. @prismq What are you attempting?

  7. @pinkiepielovescupcakes I like Pinkie's. Almost as elaborate/played up as Rainbow's outfit, but with that Candyman vibe.

  8. @scootysparkles Oh right! I think you mentioned that before! You seem to be posting in quick bursts. I can't even manage that with coffee.

  14. @rnbwdashiswin I'd be interested in reading it, if you're willing.

  15. @rnbwdashiswin You can post the link so long as you put # in the post.

  16. @scootysparkles Hey Scooty!

  17. @starshine You might be right. I know that you have to subtract the video RAM from the 4Gb ceiling, so if you had say 4Gb of memory and a 512Mb graphics card, 3.5Gb would be the absolute max the system would see in 32 bit mode. Probably closer to 3.2Gb after you account for weird Windows things.

  18. @miloth That's fair. Hopefully at some point you manage it though, because I think it will help. I totally empathize on the money thing.

  19. @rotation I had someone give me a 486 as a toy. Wasn't my first computer, but it made a great DOS box.

  20. If you know how to, you should be able to find (nefariously or otherwise) a copy of Windows 7 and do the upgrade.

Friday, 10-Jun-11 23:08:05 UTC from web
  21. @miloth Actually, you'd be surprised. A lot of netbooks ship with 1Gb of memory and Windows 7 and they run okay. Because Win 7 uses less memory than Vista, you might find it a bit quicker.

  22. On a semi-related note, RDN has a Skype group?

Friday, 10-Jun-11 23:04:49 UTC from web in context
  23. @miloth You said you'd get 6 or 8, and I assumed you meant gigs of memory. Most computers have a physical limit to what they can address. Older machines usually the limit is 4Gb. More if it's a 64bit system.

  24. @redenchilada Nice! XP or something else? My first computer had 32Mb of memory. Yeah Windows 98!

Friday, 10-Jun-11 23:01:31 UTC from web in context
  25. @miloth You could try going back to XP. And if I was closer I'd fix it for you.

Friday, 10-Jun-11 23:00:59 UTC from web in context
  26. @miloth I'm surprised you can do anything with 1Gb of memory and Vista. Vista's memory management is like herding cockroaches. But I understand the position you're in too. If your machine is 4 years old, 4Gb is probably the max.

Friday, 10-Jun-11 22:59:59 UTC from web in context
  27. @miloth Ouch, no 1Gb sure isn't much anymore. You're not on Vista/7 are you?

Friday, 10-Jun-11 22:56:48 UTC from web in context
  28. @miloth You were saying earlier you were having computer lag issues?

Friday, 10-Jun-11 22:51:39 UTC from web in context
  29. @miloth I should totally add ponies to skype. Thanks for reminding me. :)
