@zeldatra when I learned vectoring the first time I had a guide and it went really well, but then years passed and I switched programs and tried to teach myself after fogetting most of what I knew. it didn't go too well, but it helped a LOT after I went and found a tutorial because I was very familiar with many of the controls. I think a mix of using guides and experimenting works well for me.

@pegasusjones there's the pitfall as I see it. By tolerating we're not helping them to become better happier people. Loving them as a person sometimes means holding boundaries and not tolerating their actions for their own sake. Love means being willing to take their anger for your intercession or disapproval because you care more about their wellbeing than about how they feel about you.
