You would take out a $50 loan (or similar amount in your currency) and repay almost all of it right away, but keep the loan account open at like only $1, then you'd take the $49 you have left and do the exact same thing again so you have 2 shiny loan accounts that look good. If you do it a third time that's even better. And if you have enough money you can increase the loan amount to really give your credit score a boost. This works flawlessly in the U.S. at least. I guess no real harm done since you didn't use the card, but it's really good for your credit score to have a long standing credit account (like 10 years old), so I'd recommend getting a new card and keeping it safe from your old man."}
