And I don't mean in the tryhard edgy sense that most &quot;dark&quot; animes are, I mean that the series is genuinely nihilistic and has one of the most oppressive atmospheres I've seen in a show. As a mood piece it's a master class. But it's also incredibly minimalistic at times. Dialogue throughout can be incredibly sparse at times and when there are action scenes they are over incredibly quickly, the violence the series does pose is swift and deliberate. Also, the writing is incredibly subtle and the show will not explain itself to you through exposition or feed anyathing to you on a silver platter. It's pretty difficult for an anime but if you stick through to the end it's really worth it, the series works really well on so many levels."}
