When I went to the pony meetup at MCM I couldn't stand it. Obnoxious shouting, hassling people, way too much unwanted physical contact. All the crap that got the homestuck fandom banned from holding meetups there actually. Yet, when I went to a pony meetup last weekend, I had a really good time with everyone, and even made a new friend! There's some other factor at work there, I think.
