I guess I just feel more...connected to the game when I can't just storm the entire thing with my monstrous starter pokemon. Also: The games anti-piracy measure is designed to crash the game periodically when it detects it's not playing on legit hardware. There was a patch whereby you switched the cartridge kernel out with platinums or something, butit was genuinely less hassle to buy the damn thing.
