Over here they either fall into the syndicate for their workplace's orientation (As in, an IT guy working in the offices of a car factory would join the automotive or metallurgics syndicate as long as he's working there) or the college of technicians, which is less workers' union-like but serves the same function, just for professionals, independent or otherwise.
