I think the important thing was the teachers at my high school actually treated students like responsible people, so we got a lot of freedom in exchange for knowing that everyone still studied hard and did well. I still remember one time the coffee cart didn't come by and my Economics teacher interrupted a lesson so that we could go ask the special ed department if there was anything wrong
