The DSi is actually a separate console to the DS, with its own exclusive games. It just happens to also be compatible with regular DS carts as well. The XL was actually designed with elderly users in japan in mind. The screens on the XL are very bright and clear in comparison to the other models. That's why I like it. DS games just look better on it.
