Because of a voltage transformer inside the old ones and the usage of a electrolytic capacitor in that transformer AND it being cooked inside the metal casing the capacitor leaked and corroded all contacts extremely and the transformer shorted out. I had to replace the whole lamp because the contacts became unusable. Now I have over a dozen working and yet stupidly constructed LED bulbs. Good for emergencies but too bad for everyday use.
