The adult thing to do would have been to withdraw his attendance from the con, perhaps make a post on a personal blog explaining his reasons, and discuss it with Tinker in private to see if some compromise could be reached. 

The adult thing to do was NOT to throw a fit, and arguably abuse a position of respect within the community (and to be honest, abuse Tinkers forbearance) and (fake) leave forever.</html>
