@metaltao A good architecture for a different thing, similar to how a dam is an engineering marvel and is still terrible for housing.

@metaltao The fact that slapping together a thousand PS3s apparently makes a super computer doesn't change the fact that the architecture was bonkers and nearly impossible to develop for.

@metaltao The architecture, or the console? Because building a military super computer with a cell-based architecture is a lot different than using a Playstation 3 as a super computer

@metaltao Here's a modern interpretation of what I'm talking about, this is all technically in 4s but there are polyrhythms in a ton of other meters going here that give it that sense of "groove" lots of dance music is really well known for (you can hear lots of this in funk, disco, dance rock, EDM, etc.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrEqNTyMF_A

@metaltao Oh neat. I've actually studied a bit of traditional African folk music for my drum lessons. It's really incredible music, polyrhythms are gorgeous to listen to and a ton of the popular rhythm patterns you hear in popular dance music were originally found in African drum pieces.
