  1. @drinkingpony Trump comes up literally once in the entirety of The Twin Souls and he isn’t even mentioned by name, what the hell are you on about

  2. @drinkingpony I’m not sure you know the difference between a regular joke and an intentionally topical joke. The screen grab I posted is the “couch gag” of an animation, and it deliberately references current events because that’s otherwise impossible to do in animation. Trump is the butt of the joke because Congress started impeachment proceedings this week and that is the current story. If something else were happening right now, the joke would be different.

  3. @scribus I live in a congressional district that used to split its ballots, Obama won narrowly in 2008, Romney in 2012, and Clinton by 10 points in 2016, with the Republican House candidate winning handily all three of those years as well as every year between (and it was a Republican stronghold before 2008). So the way it USED to be was the congressperson here was a cookie-cutter Republican, but occasionally they’d back Obama (or rebuke Trump) on highly nationalized issues, and that’s how they survived. After 2016 the old Congresswoman got a little comfortable and just became a rank-and-duke Republican... then she lost re-election by 10+ points. Everyone thought it’d be one of the closest races in the country before that - it ended up being one of the first ones called.

  4. Probably maybe Trevor Noah is the only one on that list who wasn’t famous before Trump.

  5. Besides which that wasn’t even the point. Again.

  6. @drinkingpony those same comedians made nothing but Bush jokes for eight years, they managed just fine after Bush left office

  7. @scribus my congressperson (my new one anyway, the old one got voted out last year) has been pretty consistently open about everything she plans to do... the last one stopped holding town halls because people kept asking questions she didn’t have answers to.

  8. It’s quite inconvenient for someone like me who revels in being an edgelord but also doesn’t actually hate ethnic or sexual minorities

  9. Hey, after Trump’s gone, can we please get comedy back to the way it used to be where an offensive joke wasn’t immediately followed with an unironic bout of legitimate hatred

  10. @scribus to be fair, the ones that need to be fact checked contribute like 80% of Facebook’s revenue.

  14. @scribus I straight-up just have a personal ratings system now (not dissimilar to the FCC-mandated TV parental guidelines that's on cable and whatnot) because it seems like YouTube is laxer on that sort of thing if you at least put a warning at the front of the video and in the description and whatnot.

  15. @mrmattimation I have to imagine this one is gonna stay in the news for a while so I think this is the final-final one

  16. The point of this gag was supposed to be so that I can make topical jokes in cartoons that can’t be topical because they take a few months each to make. All that’s really done is make me go back and change it every few days until release. http://rainbowdash.net/url/875216

  17. I thought maybe if I went to sleep and trump released the Ukraine transcript while I was asleep the whole “impeachment” thing would just silently go away because if he’s offering to release it that means there’s nothing incriminating... right? He can’t be that dumb, right? Anyway I woke up and read the news and now i’m even grumpier.

  18. ...and the 80s lasted until, like, 93

  19. hot take: officially, the decade ends this year, but culturally, the 90s ended in 2001 or 2002 and the 2000s ended in 2008, so like, who REALLY decides when the decade ends?

  20. At least I finally get to live my dream of being able to parody a Presidential impeachment nine months after the fact because that’s how long animation takes. I’m joining The Simpsons in that feat.

  28. Also tbh if you somehow got “Trump is an illegitimate president and Clinton should never have conceded” from a purely numbers-based analysis of what polling looks like right now and how, Actually, they weren’t even wrong last time, then you probably have the total brain development of a baby anyway.
