@pony Which I believe is exactly what companies want so that people won't try to benefit from free use content.

@pony Because it's a character, not a technology. Tech patents expire after a couple decades. Characters and other fictional IP doesn't as far as I'm aware, since it literally gives nothing to humanity or the governments to have something so trivial free of copyright and all that fuzz.
