This is a way to share what you like.

  1. @adiwan You forgot the clones of Luke named Luuke and Luuuke ( no really ).

But yeah, fair point. All movies have severe faults and cracks in them. However it took Disney only 2 mainline movies to break the fandom. The two biggest sides seem to be those who absolutely love it and defend it so hard till their mind seems to break ( warning, 2 hour podcast of someone whose mind seems to break defending the movie https://youtu.be/bXs0LXqK2SM ). Those who still come out with movies why it all sucked and why it is all going to hell. I am not even sure if that 'side' is actually truthfull when they shout 'Please make Brie Larson a Jedi, let it all die !' or not.

Meanwhile I like to see myself as in the middle and heavily in the minority.

Imagine a kid creating a beautiful sandcastle on a beach only to come back the next day to find out that there is now a squatter playing with 'your' sand castle. Surely you can share, right ? But part of me still goes "You know, this could have been better

  2. @adiwan Reminds me of a story, now the details have been lost to time but I distinctly remember that somehow a professional looking "anti-anti virus" sign being made for our local version of a computer convention.

"128 of the best selected virusses to nuke down your pesky anti-virus" "Pester your system with Sircam, Nimda, Klez, Sapphire, Gaybird, NuclearRAT, Sasser, Blaster, and all our other pattented 'lifesavers'" ( You may have noticed that those are mostly famous virusses from the first half of the 2000's )

Some people actually inquired for our 'product' on the day of the convention. One of them actually wanted to use it because he would be fired sooner or later.

Morale of the story is... Virus Killers are snakeoil these days, attacks are most likely to come from within. Like BadUSB, No AntiVirus gonna protect you from an angry employee.

... Or dumb mother ? Idunno.

  3. @drinkingpony As a consumer of the new canon (having all the comics that came after the switch) and having only glimpses of experience with the old canon I'm heavily biased. As far as I have gathered the old canon is guilty of several stupid things like clones of Palpatine and Luke and such that appears to be fan-fictiony as well.

  4. I wasted half a day on fixing my mother's PC. More precisely Firefox. It opened every few minutes an error message that its profile couldn't be loaded. However it was all caused by Kaspersky Anti Virus. Deactivating it made it not complain again.

  5. @drinkingpony Oh, ehmm, by the way, skip to the 3 minute mark unless if you want the salty unrestrained super right 'funny' opinions of a sock-puppet that was intentionally made just to be all that.

Though if you want to go in knowing that, the more power to you. Mostly because... Lord of the Rings... Yeah Chuck Wendig went "That thing is bad for I can not read it T_T"

  6. @adiwan I know where you are coming from but no. I do not accept things like grimoire cards for something I would have liked. ( This doubles as a Destiny jab )

I do not need to remind you that Disney upon acquiring the Star Wars franchise the first thing they did was declare all the extended universe stuff un-canon. I might as well just skip the middle man and start to read fan-fiction.

Hell, come to think of it. 3 months ago I chuckled at CuckleFhuck... Fluffle PuffleChuck... one of those things, hold on let me get the thing I remember

Just... just listen to this... it breaks my heart...

  7. @drinkingpony I understand the implications that a strong woman character being played as a joke but I'm OK with that (being a joke not the ridiculing of a woman). If you want a badass Phasma then it can be only found in other media (comics, books, TV).

Saturday, 13-Jul-19 14:07:50 UTC from web in context
  8. @adiwan Everything dies if you hit it on the head hard enough.

Except Captain Phasma. Mark my word she will either be in the next episode/movie shrugging off a critical hit on her head, or she will not be in the next episode/movie at all making her character fit in between Watto and Fodesinbeed Annodue.

All I wanted is some amazing woman be awesome. Not for this woman to be wrapped in tin-foil and have less screen time or impact than Admiral Motti ( http://rainbowdash.net/url/874904 )

Heck I could write her in a more epic space opera and I am drunk half the time.

We start off with StarKiller Base being under New Republic's command with Captain Phasma pretty much being the head honcho when the Supremacy, multiple dreadnoughts, some Interdictor Star Destroyers ( they block hyperspace and communications ) to take over the facility. Then later have Kylo force-choke Phasma on display and throw her to the floor. Helmet flies off, and you see her eyes as she surrenders to Snoke.

  11. SITH TROOPERS !?! You are going to take something out of the old canon you made un-canon and pretty much make it look like someone dropped a Duck-Helmet Storm Trooper into the wrong vat of paint ?!?

Go home Disney, you are drunk !

That advice is coming from ME ! Someone with both a really positive deposition towards the hard stuff, and also someone who painted the first Ork ( W40K ) with the wrong primer causing him to look ruggid, badass, awesome, and of African descent.

    If not they should.

What I my brain came up with : [ inserts image ]

No seriously, I think I should not google that, ever. I can almost guarantee me that I am better off not knowing what a 'Stepladder kink' actually is. http://rainbowdash.net/url/874880

  15. @scribus Get a container of water. small butt large opening containers work best IMHO.

If it floats, it's toast ( throw it away )
If it stands, it demands ( to be used straight away )
If it sinks, its still good methinks.

  17. @tiff Oh those hurt just as bad as one for your back, if not worse since you can actually deal with inflamation around the area of obstruction. You have my sympathies.

May your painkillers be pleasant but non addictive.

  18. @scribus Yup, that is the non dev name of the same beast that haunted me in my dreams for so long I do not even care to remember.

  20. You know what I would appriciate ? for when I turn my computer to sleep and start meditating or sleeping or something you normally do in silence that my computer does not randomly decide "Hey you know, this would be a great time to do my updates"

Then after the updates it goes back to load all the things that were previously open, such as YouTube tabs I had put on pause to listen to / watch later. But I guess getting shocked to wide alert on http://rainbowdash.net/url/874866 while Angry Joe rips some game a new one, while at the same time ERB's "Steven Spielberg vs Alfred Hitchcock" and Luis Rossman does a RIP&TEAR on a poor piece of electronics, all together fight for dominance of my speakers.

    By Celestia's beard I loathe Windows 10. >_<

  21. @tiff Gastrointestinal hernia ? Man those are the worst. I mean I think they are called that, I might be confusing it with the umbillical cord scar thing hernia.

Ohkay why can I not come up with the word for that thing now ? I mean it is only joked about like 50K times in SciFi how clones do not have them. Ughh...

Wednesday, 10-Jul-19 16:55:25 UTC from web in context
  22. @tiff Classical back ( spine ) hernia ?

If it comes back time and time again, I am going to guess it is a classical spinal involving L5 ( above or below ) ? I can only wish you the best of luck in recovery and managing the pain. Got some sort of pain-relief from the doc ?

You are judgeing me for that ?

  24. @scribus There is no real standard for VR interaction libraries. VRTK (that I use) is the most active but it has done some backwards decisions that is biting me in the back. Others are either paid, too stupid simple, or not maintained.

Wednesday, 10-Jul-19 14:12:35 UTC from web in context
  25. Yet again I'm driven to the point I want to throw out the VR interaction library I'm using and do everything myself. There are all the small implementation details that bug me.

  26. @scribus Yes but those mooks are going to say "I smashed capitalism, I smashed it good" not "I paid $8.99 to smash capitalism"

I do not think you should make it too obvious on that front.

Imagine what would happen if happen if Delaphine went "Buy my filthy bathwater and secure your place in loserdom" as a sales pitch. I mean, we are all thinking it, but it was not the sales pitch.
