Like, how I got burned out on Brandon Sanderson after his books stopped reading like fantasies and started reading like RPG manuals for a mage. He was good at unique magic, and it was interesting in the beginning, but when it reached a point that a new Sanderson book or series came with "I wonder how the magic works now?" and he knew it was a signature and started focusing too much (I feel) on it.
