@awolditzy @northernnarwhal It is very pastel looking! It was brilliante in the spatial sense... and the temporal. Just teh timing man! it was... It was possible that this image would have just been another ephemeral glint on this planet but no! Soft.
-
@northernnarwhal @awolditzy This is a picture of a lake reflecting the sunset behind some trees. It sold for one million dollars. And, this is the only picture. It was taken by Peter Lik.

@awolditzy It's cruel irony that as a child you desire to grow up as fast as possible to reap the reputed benefits of adulthood only to become an adult and yearn for the innocence of childhood again.
-
@awolditzy This sort of reminds me of how I was hanging out with my friend a few days ago for his 18th birthday. We were at his house so he was just in his pajamas, and at one point he turned to me and the rest of group and said "Oh, you silly kids" to which I responded "You're in dinosaur pajamas drinking chocolate milk, since when are you an adult?"
I don't know when any of us are gonna grow up but it doesn't seem soon. -
@awolditzy Yeah, and if you don't care for Holden you won't care for the book at all. It's written to be deliberately alienating and goes through all of these unfulfilled desires, and it's really tragic to see him embody so many of the traits he so readily tries to dismiss and project onto others. He's one of the loneliest characters I've seen in fiction too.
-
@awolditzy /me Kool-Aid Mans through the wall
-
@awolditzy Then Jack Nicholson shows up
-
@awolditzy I guess a lot of my enjoyment comes from the fact that I'm in the book's prime demographic, so a lot of the books major themes (hypocrisy, loneliness, disillusionment with adulthood, protecting innocence, etc.) sort of resonated on a very personal level. Yes, admittedly his prose isn't as masterful as someone like Austen or Joyce, but as a character study The Catcher in the Rye succeeds pretty damn near perfectly, and Holden is still an icon for the now well known rebellious teen archetype.

@awolditzy cute ,-,

@awolditzy Reminds me of that tragically ironic line Blanche says at the end of A Streetcar Named Desire:
