  6. @awolditzy kind of. I started just having a few on the weekends because my coworkers always asked me to come out with them on their smoke breaks. Now though it satisfys my addiction more than anything so I smoke too much

  8. @awolditzy I think so, I'd have to refresh my Italian though so I'm not entirely sure.

  9. @awolditzy I don't think I know how to count in any other languages, except Spanish, which my friend showed me once. If I recall correctly, there are distinct words for every multiple of ten where you use a prefix based on the root number and add a "ta" suffix, but I'm not 100% on all that.

  10. @awolditzy I remember I had to learn how to count in Japanese back when I took karate, and it's actually really simple. 90 would be kyū-jū (where kyū means 9 and jū means 10, so 9x10=90). Actually for any multiple of 10 you just say [number]-jū.

  11. @awolditzy That makes sense. Admittedly the French system is a little obtuse, especially when viewed from the frame of reference of a foreigner, though once you get it it's pretty east to pick up.

  12. @awolditzy Do you have a distinct word for 90? In French it's "quatre-vingt-dix", with quatre being 4, vingt being 20, and dix being 10 (4x20+10=90). I know also for 70 we say "soixante-dix", where soixante is 60 (60+10=70).

  20. @awolditzy Neat shot, the framing seems to be drawing just as much focus to the plant life as the bog itself.

  23. @awolditzy I just speak from experience. Though you don't actually hear a lot of Canadian slang (at least not in my area) some words still pervade here. Like if you ask someone here about a beanie they'll probably have no idea what you're talking about but if you ask them about a toque they'll know exactly what you're referring to. Also pop is pretty much always used as opposed to soda, though the term soda is familiar. Also serviette is used in lieu of napkin, hydro is short of for hydroelectric and is your electricity utility, and everyone knows what a double-double is. Oh, and myself and a lot of people I know say eh a lot. It just works its way pretty naturally into dialogue.

  28. @awolditzy Where would the most heated dispute be? Would it pertain to the territory after such a thing would be named? Or would it come from Diane Feinstein's temper tantrum after hearing about a "high capacity" magazine being used?
