@redenchilada That and his new avatar was just his old one with something overlaid, rather than a full change.
-
@redenchilada He did, but he did it in multiple stages - name change -> says hello again -> avatar change -> says hello again. If he'd just stayed quiet until he'd changed both, he might've passed as a different user until someone actually investigated. As is, he didn't even try.

@renovatedkitchen Most modern PCs (or more precisely, the graphics cards inside them) output HDMI, same as the consoles. They could quite happily use the exact same screen that would be suitable for the console. And even if they didn't do that (because having two screens for two devices _is_ more convenient), monitors are not expensive. The prices are still going to be very close, even before you factor in the price difference between the average new PC release and the average new console release.
-
@widget Fair enough. It's sandboxed anyway, so it doesn't cause any problems beyond adding the extra post or two to scroll through when checking its new posts for hidden gems. :)
-
@renovatedkitchen Okay, yeah. If you already have a laptop, then that makes sense. Still doesn't make console gaming universally cheaper, since anyone newly entering the market will run into exactly the cost situation I described.
-
@widget Did you also change it to strip out the actual link posts (which are the actual payload, so to speak, of the horse_ebooks bot, and not remotely amusing), too? I've certainly not seen any of those since it came back at least, which is pleasant.
-
@renovatedkitchen My point being -- cost for you to do work and gaming = cost of console + cost of laptop. Cost for a PC-only gamer to do work and gaming = cost of PC. So even if the PC cost more than your console, it probably didn't cost more than the two devices you need to get the same things done.
-
@widget Oh, do you maintain anypony?
-
@brokenmicproductions Are you trying to make the staff ban you or something? :/

@renovatedkitchen Well yeah, of course most people have a computer. You still had to pay for it, whether or not you owned it before the console. If you're using your computer for gaming, then yeah, it probably cost slightly more than the console, but hey, you got a work machine at the same time.
-
@shadowknightx8x O_o
-
@renovatedkitchen So if you have a laptop for that, surely that has to be counted into the cost of console gaming? After all, somebody using a PC for gaming can use their PC for those tasks, so they don't need an extra machine.

I like how @anypony disappeared for 11 days and then came back madder than ever.

@anypony Remind me to never try your cooking.

Well, bbLean as configured out of the box is ugly as sin, but I'm actually pretty happy with it now I've tweaked the appearance. Seems entirely stable, too. :)

@widget Well, I guess I'll just have to take it for a spin. It should at least have all the *box family's common niceties, so it's more a matter of whether it's stable anyway.
-
Also, I'm really feeling a need for a *box WM on Windows so window management there is just as much to my taste as it is on Linux (I would go for tiling, but I know from experience that the few Windows solutions are buggy, incomplete or costly). Anyone had any experience with bbLean?
-
@widget I have no idea. :/
-
@gracelynn The desktop is not for files! D:
-
@widget I'm pretty sure dwm doesn't - I know the code pretty much inside out (one benefit of a tiny code base), and I certainly don't recall that. Like I said, it has tags, so you have each window in one or more tags, and can switch them to change your view. But it doesn't have something where you can combine two or more windows into one tabbed window, which is the concept I'm referring to fluxbox having.
-
@widget That's workspaces, or tags, or something like that. The tabs in fluxbox are pretty much exactly like tabs in a browser, except for windows instead of pages.
-
@toksyuryel Oh man, this _is_ good. Not really tonally appropriate for Bastion at its new speed, but still very good music on its own merit. I could see this making good "get motivated" music, too.
-
@toksyuryel Do you make use of tabbed windows? I've always heard about fluxbox supporting those, but never quite got around to playing with them.

-
@toksyuryel Gotcha. I generally like -af scaletempo since I normally only speed up spoken stuff, but obviously that defeats the purpose here.
-
@toksyuryel Without "-af scaletempo", I assume?

@bitshift And that's me done on that challenge: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8c93rc8w1zfuljf/12.broguerec
