  1. @ecmc They're being pretty much civil with each other. Seems like a welcome improvement to me.

  2. @thelastgherkin I don't see any crying. That was a terrible impression.

  3. RT @mrconventrix My new theory is that if I end all my posts without finishing them like @anypony then people will

  8. @redenchilada That could well be it. I can't see quite how that would do it, but I wouldn't rule it out.

  9. @redenchilada On a serious note, though; have it verify local files if you haven't already. You'd be surprised how often (particularly during heavy load, such as Steam sales) Steam problems come down to corrupted downloads.

  10. @redenchilada Because you suck at computer.

  11. @redenchilada Hooray!

  12. @widget Yeah, death is permanent in Nethack. (Well, you can be saved from a single fatal thing by an amulet of life saving, but once you actually do die, that's it for that character.)

Friday, 13-Jul-12 04:55:54 UTC from web in context
  13. @widget Nethack is pretty much the defining example of a roguelike, yeah. (Though as I said, !Brogue is actually the one I most enjoy right now, and also the one I would recommend to newcomers to the genre.)

Friday, 13-Jul-12 04:52:42 UTC from web in context
  14. @widget It's a subgenre of dungeon-crawler characterized by a number of things, chiefly random dungeon generation and permadeath. Most of them are either descended from, or partly inspired by the dungeon-crawler Rogue, hence the name.

  15. @minti Well, yes. But my roguelike needs are more than satisfied by Brogue, so I'm not sure why I still feel like making one. :/

Friday, 13-Jul-12 04:48:39 UTC from web in context
  16. @minti I've been feeling the urge to make a roguelike for a while now and I don't know why. D:

Friday, 13-Jul-12 04:47:22 UTC from web in context
  17. @redenchilada Yep. Like I said, I'm honestly surprised at what this thing is capable of, given the price.

Friday, 13-Jul-12 04:46:06 UTC from web in context
  18. @redenchilada Anyway, the good news is that apparently the game does work decently. I did see a little lag (only in the classic level, oddly enough), but nothing so bad as to prevent me playing it. So once I have the money, it's safe to say I will be purchasing the full game. :)

  22. @minti This seems like a terrible idea.

  27. @redenchilada Considering it threatens to cook my hands if I play Borderlands for more than ~4 hours straight, this is actually a genuine worry. :(

Friday, 13-Jul-12 03:49:45 UTC from web in context
  28. @redenchilada Ooh, demo. I'd got so used to demos mostly not being a thing any more, that I didn't even bother to check. Downloading now. :3

  29. @redenchilada All kidding aside, though, I don't have it, so I can't find out. I do want to get it once I have the money, though.
