@minti One beginner tip I'd give is: first, look at the help (? key), it's really... well, helpful. :) Secondly, point at things (it has mouse support) to see more detail about them. With that, you should have enough to get yourself into at least a semi-hilarious fatal situation. :D

@minti It's a text-based roguelike, if that changes anything. That said, it's pretty much the most newbie-friendly one I've seen that isn't just pointless. So if you can get past the look (or just enjoy it anyway, like I do), definitely give it a go. Also, I had a pet monkey and rat. Here they are over a chasm. :) http://ur1.ca/9rkf5

@foxgopher It was free for a while, but I don't believe that was a permanent thing. Not likely to be more than a dozen bucks, if that, though.

@pony Jailbreak is very crude, Problem Sleuth is a bit winding, Bard Quest is both (and unfinished). Homestuck is the first one to have had a prolonged period of no user commands (the input commands stopped coming from users pretty early on, and Hussie has stated he has no intention of re-opening the suggestion box), and really benefits from it in terms of focus and quality. So, don't avoid the others, but don't feel you have to read them to get Homestuck, because you don't.

@pony None of them directly relate, so you _could_ read them independently, but there's callbacks in most adventures (except, afaik, Bard Quest, which is unfinished, and probably won't be) to the earlier ones, so you don't have anything to lose but time, if you read them in chronological order.

@mushi There was actually a full one, about 10 minutes long, but that one fell victim to a DMCA takedown. Either way, that one gets across most of what was so odd about the advert.

@ceruleanspark Seems probable; Dragon's said he's taking a week off from moderating, and Red generally says something (like "hey, no swearing" in this instance) when he's deleted a post. (Plus I'm not sure he's actually watching the site right now.)

@ecmc You'll generally see the little "achievement unlocked" thing, even offline, but I don't believe it actually affects anything unless you're actually online.
