  1. @cabal Germany? Seriously?

  2. @cabal Unfortunately, the better aspects of the first amendment (there are bad aspects of it too, like giving hate groups a defense for much of their hate speech) are under attack from overzealous nanny-state laws like COPPA, etc. etc. etc. which aim to protect the chiiiiiiildren. And the site's hosted in Germany, but ich bin NICHT Deutsch.

  3. @cabal Hosting in foreign countries is always a good idea. If I start a website, I'm going to host it in Sweden.

  4. @ponybis The people who think of Anonymous as a group apparently includes @Cabal, who felt like sharing the whole idiotic "we are legion we do not forget DURR HURR" tagline with us. So - just sayian. Anonymous DOES sometimes organize itself as a group; whether or not the "real anonymous" (LOL) doesn't like it, doesn't matter. They are being represented, as are their ideas. If they want to speak out against it, then go for it, for all I care.

  5. @cabal ... all of a sudden I'm not surprised. You being a part of Anonymous makes wayyyyyy too much sense.

  6. @cabal Making money off of memes isn't evil. It is, in fact, the foundation of all art. Every painting of a naked lady, or a bowl of fruit, or a nobleman on horseback, done by a painter in the Renaissance was done for money, and it was based off of earlier ideas-- memes-- that spread through society even in those days. (They just spread a lot slower.) Protesting KYM for making ad revenue through their site chronicling memes is even more ludicrous than protesting Disney for making money repackaging Brothers Grimm fables and ancient fairy tales as profitable cartoons. As for Anonymous, they are far from heroes. They have done some good things, and they have done some horrible things.

  7. @cabal I don't like Sony either. But I buy their products, and I have no problems with allowing groups that accept ad revenue from them into my con. Idealism has its place, but you have to pick your battles. It's an imperfect world, and if you only want to deal with perfect people, you'll find your life very lonely indeed.

  8. @cabal I know about GeoHot. But if I boycott everyone who does business with Sony, or Best Buy, or Microsoft or IBM or the country of Germany or any other organisation that has ever done anything evil, I'd be left unable to conduct business with ANYONE AT ALL. There is no such thing as an organisation with clean hooves, and there is no such thing as a person who has never done business with an organisation with unclean hooves.

  9. @cabal I'm with Cabal on this, @purpletinker I'm not a fan of KYM for numerous reasons and cabal is making a very good point. This would cause nothing but problems.

  10. @cabal Well, I wasn't going anyway, so anything I'd do would be moot no matter what.

  11. @cabal KYM represented us positively in the past. They ASKED to attend. After they gave us POSITIVE news coverage in the past, we would be insane to turn them away.

  12. @cabal ...And how's that gonna affect the convention?

  13. @cabal Is it really that big of a deal? I wouldn't think anyone could ruin the con on their own.

  14. @cabal Aww that makes me sad I missed. i don't find out about this crap until forever later. ... oh well. And to be honest, I don't think I understand this Anti-Sec thing.

  16. @cabal Yeah but what about the specfic ones that spawn from something copyrighted by a company?

Tuesday, 20-Sep-11 23:47:52 UTC from web in context
  17. @cabal # wow. And companies ever got onto their boohonkies for doing that? Though other than onsite (and on youtube) ads, I don't see how they can do that in the first place? What they got a shop or something now?

  18. I'm not going to BroNYCon because @cabal isn't going there. I considered going just to see him in his dapper suit, BUT NO! He won't be there and neither will I! (Not because I can't go, because Cabal isn't going to be there)

  20. @cabal I paid for this with cash up front. With my income I know better than to go in debt.

  25. @cabal I'm just terrible with history. Like, completely, horribly, "can't believe I have a 65 and not a 30" terrible with it. And yet it's one of my two AP classes. I am obviously a clever pony.

  26. @cabal No, just a boring ol high school class.

Sunday, 18-Sep-11 01:46:18 UTC from StatusNet Desktop in context
  27. @cabal By having a teacher who's new to teaching AP, and having it at the time of day I'm most likely to have problems staying up.
