Also, my attempt at a Legion playthrough is rapidly falling apart. I don't seem to have it in me to be an apples. The question is, what playthrough to turn it into? Maybe a House one, I've not yet played one of those to completion.
-
@bitshift The hardest part about a Legion playthrough is being denied all the best non-robotic followers.
Monday, 30-Apr-12 11:54:41 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel I don't mind Cass, but her follower perk is kind terrible.
-
@toksyuryel Who?
Monday, 30-Apr-12 11:56:00 UTC from web-
@valiantratchet Boone and I thought Veronica but the wiki seems to be suggesting otherwise
Monday, 30-Apr-12 12:02:32 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel Can't you bypass Boone's faction check with NCR armor?
Monday, 30-Apr-12 12:03:25 UTC from web-
@ceruleanspark Hm, I've never tried it. I'll have to look into that. Being able to use Boone on my Legion playthrough whenever I get back to it would be, well, quite the boon.
Monday, 30-Apr-12 12:04:50 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel I know you can use faction armor to bypass Arcade's check, so assuming the same check is used in both places, I can't see why that wouldn't work. (Though that said, you still wouldn't be able to take Boone anywhere near the Fort.)
-
@ceruleanspark Shouldn't have any reason to bring him to The Fort, so this is perfectly acceptable.
Monday, 30-Apr-12 12:11:57 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel He can't go to Nelson or Cottonwood cove either.
-
@ceruleanspark No reason to bring him to Cottonwood either. For Nelson I'll just have to bring someone else along.
Monday, 30-Apr-12 12:14:43 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel Isn't Nelson one of the places (all Legion areas, I think) where he _will_ go, but only if your plan is to wipe it out?
-
@bitshift Pretty much. Which is why you don't bring him there!
Monday, 30-Apr-12 12:18:44 UTC from web -
@bitshift If you take Boone to a legion area, he will shoot everyone. No exceptions.
-
@ceruleanspark On my NCR run I brought him everywhere. Had so much fun murdering everything that moved in The Fort.
Monday, 30-Apr-12 12:20:46 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel I'm not going to pretend I don't enjoy murder in general. This is why I'm somewhat looking forward to a legion run. So many NCR targets. I'mma put the waste back into wasteland.
-
@ceruleanspark Wild Card run. Murder absolutely everyone.
Monday, 30-Apr-12 12:24:11 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel I for one, welcome our new mass murderer overlords.
-
@toksyuryel I need to do one of those, if only to see how many characters can practically be killed before either I become overpowered or kiwi off someone/something extremely dangerous.
-
@bitshift There's some subtle bug in my copy of NV which causes Legion hit squads to spawn with ludicrous frequency. It's difficult, but fun,
-
@ceruleanspark I've had two spawn at the same spot (road north out of Novac) within 12 in-game hours, so it might well be afflicting me, too. Then again, that's pretty near Nelson, so that could also be the explanation.
-
@bitshift I get them at literally every time, at any valid spawn location. Sleeping at the El-Dorado gas station means I will be attacked when I arrive AND when I wake up.
-
-
-
@bitshift You can pretty much do anything. Yes Man is the one bridge you absolutely cannot burn. Even if you kill him he just keeps coming back.
Monday, 30-Apr-12 12:31:18 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel He actually tells you that he'll do that too, in that cheery tone of his.
-
@ceruleanspark When I get around to doing my Wild Card run, I think I will make a point of killing Yes Man every time I finish talking to him.
Monday, 30-Apr-12 12:48:33 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel Aww, but he's so nice.
-
@ceruleanspark Killing is simply how that character shows affection.

-
@toksyuryel You should make sure to delay integrating him into the Lucky 38, then, since I'm 99% certain he cannot be killed once he's in the big screen instead of a securitron.
-
@bitshift @toksyuryel I always feel so bad about killing Mr House.
-
@ceruleanspark It never bothered me, that guy's a plothole.
Monday, 30-Apr-12 13:00:47 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel He just wants what's best.
-
@ceruleanspark He wants what's best for *him*. Which I can admire in someone, but I want what's best for *me* so he's gotta step aside.
Monday, 30-Apr-12 13:03:14 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel He wants what's best for humanity. He wants us out, colonising other planets, not fighting over bottlecaps and the remains of a lost civilisation.
-
@ceruleanspark If he wants humanity to continue then he doesn't want what's best for humanity.
Monday, 30-Apr-12 13:04:39 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel Depends on how you define "best"
-
@ceruleanspark The time approaches when all shall become plush. There is no sense in fighting the inevitable when it's such a wonderful future.

@ceruleanspark That's why my no-longer-Legion playthrough is probably going to turn into a House playthrough. I might not agree with how he means to get there, but I can certainly admire his goals.
-
@bitshift What's wrong with how he gets there? He doesn't even murder anyone.
-
@ceruleanspark Something about one person choosing the path for the whole wasteland just rubs me the wrong way, though agreeing with the path chosen makes it a lot easier to swallow. (Plus, given the Courier's role in my favoured Wild Card path, I may well be something of a hypocrite.)
-
@bitshift It might be because House kind of reminds me of Littlepip that he doesn't bother me
-

-
-
-
@ceruleanspark It's quite disturbing when you see the state he's in, if nothing else.
-
@bitshift I'm not convinced he's aware of it. I think a lot of his hackery has shifted his self-image in such away he is effectively the Lucky 38.
-
@ceruleanspark Yeah. His brain is still in the dessicated husk, but I don't think he's actually considered it to be the "real" him for a long time.
-
@bitshift What always bothered me is that one of your options is to disable his cerebral uplink, making that action the functional equivelant of burying him alive.
-
@ceruleanspark Yeah. Once I'd already sealed myself into that path (feels kinda cheap to me to use saves to undo "bad" decisions), I felt a lot better about putting him out of his misery rather than subjecting him to that.
-
@bitshift You can just hit him with a golf club after. You don't have to go back.

@bitshift Hm good point. Will have to see.

@ceruleanspark This is largely why my legion run is failing: too many nice, NCR-aligned folks near the start.
-
@bitshift Obviously you're doing things wrong then. You should be shooting, not talking.
-
@ceruleanspark Yeah. A speech/barter/melee legion run is looking pretty much unworkable (for me) at this point.
-
-
@bitshift All your factions reset after the first time you talk to House, so don't worry so much about what bridges you burn before then (unless you kill Caesar. I don't think you can join the Legion if you do that)
