@broniebrown Speaking of German, I don't know how to pronounce my own surname...

@scribus I tried to compile the phonetic representation according to the English IPA but English doesn't have the right "r" in its language to represent it properly. But I found a video of a guy who says the name. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-isWBzmYx68&t=6 (Ignore the "Heiner"). Most Germans say Bremer with a "a" at the end but to pronounce it correctly yo need to say the word as it is with the "er".

@broniebrown So it is more like BREE-mer than BREH-mer?

@scribus I got it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA_for_German bʁeːma or bʁeːmɛʁ

@broniebrown Dig it. Seems in the States, it's a east-coast/west-coast thing between BREE-mer and BREH-mer. I just started saying BREE-mer to emphasize that there's only one M. But then, realizing I hear BREH-men more than BREE-men as the pronounciation of "Bremen," from where it seems to come... Anyway, dig it. :)

@scribus Yepp.. Your ancestors' name comes from the city of Bremen.

@broniebrown Yeah, I guess the first of my name/line in the States had draft-dodged and stowed away on a ship or something like that.
